My Story

My love of building started at a young age with blocks and legos and continued with pinewood derby cars.

When I moved to Alaska in 2017, I was dissatisfied with the lack of options for furniture consisting mainly of cheep particle board. What started with a simple bedframe, quickly expanded to include other pieces of furniture.

After making several items for family and friends, I officially launched Wooden Gnome Designs in the Spring of 2025.

I find inspiration in many facets of my daily life, from my runs in the woods, to walks through urban areas, to the creations from other artists in a variety of mediums.

The process of my creations is a dance between finding a solution to a problem and deciding what a particular piece of wood is destined to become. I start with a plan, but so often it takes many turns along the way. Part of the fun for me is deciding what creative elements to include, but more often which elements to leave out. Often times the most beautiful part of a piece is the wood its self.
